The Mashpee Planning Board approved site plans May 3 for the construction of a HomeGoods store in South Cape Village.
Dividend Capital Diversified Property Fund, which owns South Cape Village, has proposed demolishing a building made up of small, individual shops along Joy Street and attached to Roche Bros., and replacing that building with a larger, single-unit store for HomeGoods.
Plans filed by engineers with Baxter Nye Engineering & Surveying show the current 15,000-square-foot building would be demolished and replaced with a 20,000-square-foot store.
Construction of the new store will likely not begin until after Labor Day.
Attorney Eliza Cox, representing the fund, said the Cape Cod Commission has drafted a favorable ruling in its review.
