Call it the HGTV effect. HomeGoods is continuing its regional expansion with a planned store at Jay Scutti Plaza at 1000 Hylan Drive in Henrietta. It’s the plaza that houses Chuck E. Cheese and Pizzeria Uno.
This is the second HomeGoods store that will open in Monroe County following the location in Webster and the fourth HomeGoods regionally. The other two stores are in Victor and Canandaigua, Ontario County.
HomeGoods is a chain of discount stores for furnishings that falls within the same umbrella of T.J. Maxx. It offers on-trend decor items such as rugs, lamps and art at a fraction of the retail price. It is highly addictive for those of us who are serial redecorators. I used to make occasional trips to the Canandaigua store to get my fix. But the shops keep moving closer and closer to me. The Henrietta location will be the closest to downtown Rochester.
HGTV has contributed to house envy syndrome, where many of us want our homes to be magazine-worthy. Stores like HomeGoods offer an inexpensive option for a pick-me-up. Other good places for home accessories are Tuesday Morning and Christmas Tree Shops on the lower end.
