On Old Mission Peninsula northern end lies one of Michigan’s oldest general stores. Dating to the mid 1800s, The Old Mission General Store has been a staple of the community, once selling grain and feed and today offering goods, gifts and food for locals and tourists.

The store has been in its current location since the Civil War, and today part of the original structure still stands in the store’s center section, with its worn, wooden floors and potbellied stove. The general store also boasts one of the oldest post offices in the state, and even has an old telephone switch-board, now defunct.
