ASHEBORO — Add two more discount variety stores to the number that continues to crop up in Randolph County. One store has been approved for the Coleridge area and a second one is in the planning stages for Level Cross.

In February, Brent Purdum with Triangle Site Design came before the Randolph County Planning Board on behalf of Glandon Forest Equity as the plan designer for a proposed Dollar General store just north of and across the road from Coleridge Elementary School on N.C. 22 South. The board approved the request for a retail operation on 1.89 acres.

At the meeting, Purham said he expected the Coleridge store to be built in approximately nine months. Jay Dale, Randolph County planning director, said Wednesday that company representatives have requested a hearing for a store in Level Cross to be placed on the agenda for the planning board’s Tuesday, June 5, meeting. Planning board meetings are held at the 1909 Randolph County Historic Courthouse Meeting Room, 145-C Worth St., Asheboro, unless otherwise posted.
