Oklahoma quarterback Kyler Murray will play in what is arguably the most important football game of his career Saturday night.
And the most important decision of his professional career could come shortly thereafter.
As the Sooners inch toward their College Football Playoff meeting with Alabama, the spotlight remains squarely fixed on Murray, their Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback who could be playing in his final college football game. The dilemma in front of him is not new, but it has lingered — and become a significant talking point — in the lead-up to this weekend’s Orange Bowl: Will Murray choose to play professional football or baseball?
“Everybody knows he’s got a big decision to make,” Oklahoma coach Lincoln Riley told reporters Friday morning. “He’s in a great situation. I mean, the guy’s already the ninth overall pick in the Major League Baseball draft. And I think he’ll be probably somewhere around the same spot if he chose to go football-wise.”
